Community Impact reports that the November 4th election is ahead, as well as the deadline to register to vote. October 6th is the deadline date eligible Texans must register to cast votes in various local races and to vote on 17 proposed amendments to the constitution.
Those who need to register to vote must submit a paper application. Contact or visit the local election office to register.
To be eligible for voter registration, an individual must:
–Be a citizen of the U.S.
–Be a resident in the county they apply to vote in
–By election day, be at least 18 years old
–Not have been declared mentally incapacitated without the right to vote by a court
Generally, convicted felons are not eligible to vote. However, Texans who complete their sentence, probation and parole may become eligible, according to the secretary of state’s office.
Important Dates to remember:
The last day to register to vote or update information is October 6th.
Early in-person voting begins October 20th.
The last day to vote by mail is October 24th.
Early in-person voting ends on October 31st.
Election Day is November 4th.
