Community Impact reports that on May 27th CenterPoint Energy and Entergy Texas demonstrated support for local disaster mitigation efforts across Montgomery County. There is an above-average hurricane season forecast by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for 2025.
Ahead of the June 1st start of the hurricane season, Entergy Texas hosted a full-day simulation of a major hurricane event in The Woodlands.
During the simulation, officials from Entergy tested processes which included:
-Storm response strategies
-Internal and external communication protocols
-Logistics and coordination
Entergy Texas CEO and President Eliecer Viamontes said, “The meticulous staging site setup and engaging simulation at our command center showcased the dedication and expertise that underpin our commitment to ensuring the safety of our communities.”
The Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management in Conroe on May 27th received the donation of a backup generator from CenterPoint Energy. Twenty of these generators are being installed by CenterPoint across the Greater Houston area to produce additional power capacity for any long-term outages which are caused by natural disasters.
