Community Impact reports that a total of $340,000 was raised for the Conroe ISD Education Foundation at their Scholarship Breakfast on April 25th. The funds raised were reported to be a record for the event.
In 2001 the foundation was formed and is governed by a volunteer board of directors. It is administered by a part-time executive director.
According to their website, each spring the scholarship breakfast serves as their major fundraising source. At all times of the year, general contributions are accepted.
School officials, administrators, community members, public officials and higher educational leaders attended the breakfast held at the Jett Center at Woodforest Stadium and Natatorium.
The foundation gave $299,400 in scholarships and gift cards following the breakfast.
The total amount for student scholarships, the All Means All scholarship for ninth-graders and a Wells Fargo Scholarship was $21,000.
The complete amount for 99 gift cards to new teachers who are graduates of CISD was $9,900.
In Stockton Legacy Scholarships to paraprofessionals, $63,000 was awarded.
And, for 137 continuing education scholarships to Conroe ISD employees, the foundation gave $205,500.
