The Courier of Montgomery County reports that some fun area events are ahead for May.
On Thursday, May 8th, the First Thursday Concert continues at Heritage Place Park with Barefoot Nation, a Kenny Chesney tribute, at 7 PM. Food trucks will be available. Both food and beverages may be taken in. It’s free.
The Children’s Performing Arts School for the Crighton Theatre Foundation, Bravo Company, will be performing “Harry Tale Rock” on Friday, May 2nd at 7 PM and Saturday, May 3rd at 2 PM.
An event hosted by the Montgomery County Literary Arts Council, Writers in Performance, will feature Stephanie M. Blalock, a Walt Whitman scholar, Thursday, May 1st at 3 PM at Lone Star College Montgomery, Room G-102 in advance of the Walt Whitman Birthday celebration.
The Annual Student Awards Show will take place at the Conroe Art League on Saturday, May 10th, from 6 to 8 PM. Over $13,000 will be awarded in 18 show categories. Also available will be a $500 award for the Adrianne Gerlach Memorial Art Scholarship for Best Western/Wildlife. A $300 award is available for the Sherry Wagner Memorial Award for the theme Forever Cats.
A three-week engagement of “Little Shop of Horrors” begins Friday, May 9th at the Owen Theatre. Tickets are available at OwenTheatre.com.
On May 11th, the annual Mother’s Day Brunch will take place at Margaritaville Lake Resort from 10 AM to 2 PM in the Del Lago Ballroom.
