The Courier of Montgomery reports that the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce Tastefest gets underway today at 5 o’clock and lasts until 8 PM at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center in Conroe.
Featuring around 60 food and drink vendors, the event this evening kicks off a span of tastings at participating restaurants from today through May 31st.
A TastePass ticket, for the fist time, is to be used for the event and is digital and in one platform on the ticket holder’s mobile phone.
According to the Director of Special Events for the Chamber, Riley Borchgardt, “With the digital TastePass you can purchase on your phone, carry it on your phone, and transfer it to other people when you buy.” Vendors can gather data from it.
She said the ticket will be an app widget on the holder’s phone. The TastePass is better, versus a paper ticket, which can be lost.
According to Chamber President Scott Harper the Tastefest goes back almost 30 years. Over the years, the name of the event has changed, but the purpose is still to showcase Conroe’s best restaurants.
Over the time period, the event allows owners and managers to customize their Tastefest experience.
Tonight’s kickoff party is for a one-evening event all under the same roof where tasting size bites will be offered.
The TastePass can be used for tastings at over 30 Montgomery County restaurants.
Those interested can get a TastePass on the chamber’s website, or it is available at the chamber building at 505 West Davis.
The cost is $50 per pass for non-chamber members and $35 for chamber members.
