Community Impact reports that the Conroe City Council discussed consolidating its twice-monthly workshop and regular council session to one day during their meetings on February 24th and 25th.
Until a future meeting that would allow for feedback from the public before moving ahead, the council deferred the decision to consolidate its work session and action meetings. At present, Wednesdays at 2 PM are reserved for workshop meetings, while regular meetings are scheduled on the following Thursday.
Councilmember Wood didn’t want to move too quickly on the decision. He suggested one more session or one month to give citizens time to give their input on the matter. He said because a lot of citizens work, they can’t come, so he supports a meeting at 5 or 6 PM.
Councimembers Marsha Porter and Shana Arthur were concerned about the length of meetings and its affect on city employees. Porter said, “Our employees are not paid overtime.” She said, if there is just one meeting, the meeting will last a long time, continuing until 9 or 10 PM.
