The Courier of Montgomery County reports that the county’s 2025 compensation plan for elected officials has been approved by Montgomery county commissioners.
Commissioners approved a $466 million budget and a tax rate increase for 2025 earlier this month. The new budget includes a rise in funds for law enforcement and cost of living raises for employees. The new budget is higher than 2024’s budget of $432.6 million.
A tax rate of 37.90 was approved, which is an increase from the last tax rate of 36.96.
County Attorney B.D. Griffin will have the top county salary at $213,677 a year.
Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack is paid $207,785 with an included cell phone allowance. Commissioners Charlie Riley, Robert Walker and Matt Gray will receive $206,825 each. Sheriff Rand Henderson will be paid $204,120.
County Judge Mark Keough will earn $159,774, which includes a cell phone allowance. He has refused a pay increase since his time in office.
The pay for Tax Assessor Collector Tammy McRae is $191,340. County Treasurer Melanie Bush is paid $166,361. County Clerk Brandon Steinmann is paid a salary of $155,569. The clerk for the district, Melisa Miller, receives $154,609.
Looking at County Constable’s salaries, Phillip Cash, Gene DeForest, Ryan Gable, Rowdy Hayden and Chris Jones each receive $160,393.
Regarding Justice of the Peace’s salaries, Precinct 3 Justice Matt Beasley receives $156,549 dollars. Justices Trey Spikes, Jason Dunn and Matt Masden each earn $155,589. Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack receives $150,640.
