The Courier of Montgomery County reports that last Tuesday a grand opening ceremony was held for a senior living community in Conroe called Landmark 301. A former hospital, the facility offers 47 units of efficiency, one-bedroom and two bedroom apartments for people 55 and over. The first residents move in this week.
The Kansas-based Overland Property group redeveloped the building. The apartments offer a living-room area, kitchen, bedroom, bathrooms, washer/dryer hookups and secure entrances. Also available in the building are a community room, library, fitness center and activity room.
This week, Asset Living Regional Vice President for Operations, Tammy Flores, passed along that around half the apartments have been leased. For leasing information and an availability, anyone interested should visit the Landmark 301 website at Landmark 301.com.
Presenting his plans for redevelopment to the Conroe City Council in early 2021, the group’s Brett Johnson was looking for affordable housing tax credits. There was no success on the effort in 2021, but in 2022 $13.5 million in housing tax credits were secured.
Director of Development for Overland Property Group, April Engstrom, said the building was in “bad shape” when construction got underway in 2023. However, the core structure of the facility was still okay.
