Community Impact reports that on August 14th, Montgomery County Commissioners approved moving ahead on establishing a medical examiner’s office.
Since the original forensic center, a 22,000 square foot forensic center costing $13 million has been built. Head of the county’s forensic services, Dr. Kathryn Pinneri, said the current setup worked, but has become “cumbersome.”
Future needed positions would be 1 part-time forensic pathologist, two death investigators and a forensic operations manager.
In late August, with approval in the county’s budget, the move would be put in writing to initiate a medical examiner’s office.
