The Courier of Montgomery County reports that the newly named Janet K. Bartlett Elementary at 11255 Cielo Drive in Conroe will welcome students in pre-kindergarten through fourth-grade. The new school is within the new Cielo community off of FM 1484 that is scheduled to offer over 830 single-family homes. Classes resume at 71 campuses in Conroe ISD today.
The school’s name celebrates Janet Bartlett’s legacy of being a 30-year teacher for Conroe ISD. She is a 1971 graduate of Conroe High School and later graduated from Sam Houston State University. She continues as a long-time substitute teacher following her retirement from full-time teaching in 2006.
Originally Flex School 23 for the Caney Crreek High School feeder zone, Bartlett Elementary was, in part, a result of Conroe ISD’s 2019 bond referendum and cost around $39.4 million to construct.
The school will help relieve overcrowding at Caney Creek and Conroe feeder elementary campuses by offering a capacity for 950 pre-kindergarten through fourth grade students.
The attendance zone for Bartlett Elementary is bound by FM 1484 on the north side and goes south of Texas 105 on the southern side. When it opens in August of 2027, Bartlett Elementary students will eventually go to Timber Mill High School on the east side of Conroe.
In October, a dedication ceremony for the school will take place.
Conroe ISD campuses will be welcoming over 74,000 students today. For the new year, 82 new buses have been put in operation for their fleet. Over a dozen campuses will have new principals.
