The Montgomery County Courier reports that Montgomery ISD trustees, following a six-month search for a new superintendent, found one. He is Normangee ISD Superintendent Mark Ruffin. During a Tuesday board meeting he received a unanimous vote.
According to a district press release, state law requires a waiting period of 21-days before the district will take a vote to offer a contract to him.
Previously, Heath Morrison held the Montgomery ISD superintendent post for three years, leaving the position in July. He is now with Teachers of Tomorrow, an alternative certification program based in Houston.
Since July, the district’s assistant superintendent of student services and innovation, Amy Busby, has been carrying out the duties of interim superintendent.
Ruffin said, he is looking “forward to working with the board of trustees and outstanding teachers and staff in this district.”
District spokesman, Justin Marino, said the official start date for the new superintendent is December 19th. It’s anticipated, however, that he will begin work after the district’s winter break coming in January.
