Community Impact reports that the Montgomery City Council will take a look at a number of items that reflects the city’s growth such as planning for a future Lowe’s Home Improvement store, finalizing with a new H-E-B store and evaluating the city’s expected wastewater plant capacity needs.
A proposed escrow agreement between the city and Lowe’s Home Improvement will be considered by the council at their October 27th meeting. Lowe’s, in an agreement, plans to buy and develop a 9.12 acre plot of land called Buffalo Stewart Crossing Tract.
In order to reimburse the city for any costs it incurs overseeing the development, the escrow agreement would require Lowe’s to pay into an escrow fund. Lowe’s will put $7,000 into the fund.
According to official documents, Montgomery’s first H-E-B will be opening soon. A final plat for the grocery store will be considered for approval by the council. The amount of $165,950 is the impact fee to be paid for the property at the southeast corner of Highway 105 and FM 2854. The store opening is planned for November.
In order to best accommodate future growth, the council could approve commissioning an analysis of the city’s wastewater treatment plant capacity. Average daily flow of wastewater in Montgomery is 225,000 gallons. Montgomery is expected to have 700,000 gallons per day by 2030, according to a memo from the city’s engineering consultant.
