More than a thousand acres south of Huntsville will now fall under city development rules.
According to The Huntsville Item, City Council voted Tuesday to bring the mostly wooded land into the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, or E-T-J. The landowners asked for the change.
That means any future development there will have to meet the city’s subdivision, infrastructure and platting standards. The land is not being annexed, so it stays outside city limits.
The Huntsville Planning Commission recommended the move last month.
