Community Impact reports that following city council approval of a not-to exceed $80,000 compensation study at their September 24th meeting, the City of Conroe will take a look at how it classifies and pays city employees.
In order to conduct a comprehensive review and update of its current classification and compensation system, the city chose Public Sector Personnel Consultants.
While keeping compensation equitable and internally consistent, the study is designed to see that the pay structure of the city remains competitive with current market conditions.
The study will examine the city’s job classifications and compensation while looking at the structure the city uses to organize positions and establish pay. The review will also take into account if the city’s system takes care of Conroe’s organizational needs.
Representatives from the police, fire, public works, human resources and purchasing department looked over the qualifications from seven consulting firms. Earning the highest score over all was Public Sector Consultants.
During the city’s budget workshop for fiscal year 2026-27, discussion on a compensation study began.
