Huntsville Independent School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Aneka VanCourt as the district’s new Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
Dr. VanCourt comes to Huntsville ISD from Galena Park ISD, where she served as Executive Director for Secondary Staffing and Compliance. She brings extensive experience in public education, including district-level human resources leadership, staffing and compliance, campus administration, and service as a school principal.
During her time in Galena Park ISD, VanCourt has held leadership responsibilities in both elementary and secondary staffing. Her work has included recruitment, placement and support of teachers, administrators and other professional staff, as well as staffing processes and compliance.
VanCourt also brings firsthand campus leadership experience, having previously served as principal of Dr. Gerald D. Cobb Sixth Grade Campus. That combination of campus and district experience gives her a broad perspective on the needs of employees and school leaders.
VanCourt holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from The University of Houston, along with earning a Masters of Education, Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Elementary Education from Texas Southern University.
She began her new role with Huntsville ISD on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
