The Courier of Montgomery County reports that The Players Theatre Company, in continuing the successful ride of their first Penguin Project production last spring, passes along to the public their next sessions launch. There will be an informational meeting for artists, parents, volunteers and mentors on Thursday, October 1, 2025 at the Owen Theatre in Conroe.
Young artists with special needs, by way of participation in the Penguin Project, get to work with peer mentors to participate in a fully-staged musical.
Seussical Jr., the Players next Penguin Project production, is a heartwarming show that spotlights perseverance, being true to oneself, kindness, respect, caring and imaginative thought. The production will be performed next spring on the Owen Theatre stage.
Children with disabilities ages eight to 21 are provided with a supportive environment to discover their creative talents as a player in a modified version of a popular Broadway musical. A peer mentor is paired with a Penguin Artist of similar age who gives one-on-one support by way of rehearsals and performances.
Beginning on October 26th, rehearsals for Seussical Jr. get underway on Thursday evenings at the Owen Theatre.
