The Courier of Montgomery County reports that coming back through August and possibly into the fall is the popular Main Street Market in downtown Conroe. The market was paused from February through May.
In front of the Montgomery County Courthouse at 301 North Thompson Street, the upcoming market is from 10 AM to 2 PM on July 25th, August 8th and August 22nd.
On June 13th and 27th, the market returned. The market could return to a weekly September schedule, depending on permitting from the city.
Artisans and vendors, 40 to 70 of them, offer jewelry, food items, plants, pet items soaps and more.
Main Street Market was launched by host and owner Farralyn Withrow in the juror parking lot in downtown Conroe five years ago before it moved to its present location.
Withrow, in late January, let it be known that the market would cease operation because of raises in Conroe event-related street-closure fees put together by city leaders. Taking place on Thompson Street it required a street closure.
The end of the market was announced in late January on the Main Street Market’s Facebook post. The post said, “This has always been more than a market, it’s been a tight-knit community and the starting place for 100-plus new businesses. It’s been a major part of the ecosystem that is downtown Conroe.”
Before the pause, the last market was February 7th.
Three new city councilmembers, back in early May, took office and the council gave approval to reducing street-closure fees from $1,300 in late 2025 to $35. This decision is temporary until the measure can be further reviewed.
Some of the market participants include Deep Roots Farm 2 Table, Flowers by Ananda, Brazos Valley Beef, Nana and Pops plumerias and trees, Curious Remedies tea blends, various bakery booths and soaps and lotions by GZ naturals.
