Conroe ISD trustees got an update this week on where the district’s 2023 bond money stands.
According to a Community Impact report, the board heard the numbers Tuesday from Chief Financial Officer Karen Garza and the district’s financial advisor.
Voters approved the one-point-nine-seven-billion-dollar bond back in November of 2023. It pays for eight new campuses plus infrastructure improvements across the district.
Garza told trustees the district has issued about one-point-six-four billion dollars of that so far, with roughly 333 million dollars left to fund the remaining work. That includes the Timber Mill campus, new ninth-grade campuses at Grand Oaks and Caney Creek, Cartwright Junior High, Washington High School, new gyms, technology and safety upgrades.
Community Impact reports every one of those projects except Washington High School is already under construction. The district estimates about 407 million dollars is still needed to finish the job, and most of the remaining projects are on track to wrap up by December 2027.
Washington High School is not expected to meet that date. For Willis-area families, that construction is happening right next door, as growth along the I-45 corridor keeps pushing Conroe ISD to add classroom space.
