Community Impact reports that a campus improvement plan from Montgomery ISD Assistant Superintendent of Student Services Amy Busby was reviewed by the MISD board of trustees at their September 15th regular board meeting.
Put together as a long-term strategy to guide the district toward becoming the premier school district in Texas, in 2021 MISD launched a districtwide initiative called the Pathway to Premier. There’s been a revision of the plans since then, especially in February of 2024 when a committee made up of teachers, parents and students was formed. The goals, which were an update, were completed in June 2024, and the plan was implemented to last until 2029.
To help reach their goal, Busby said the district has five targets:
–Academic achievement
–School safety
–Human capital
–Communication
–Customer service
Multiple plans are being worked on by the district, according to Busby, for it its elementary and secondary school campuses.
To identify students who need extra support in readng and math, Creekside Elementary will use additional staff. A 45 minute enrichment time in its master schedule will provide students with support in small groups at Kenan Elementary. In order to prevent negative behavior, Lincoln Elementary counselors will discuss bullying with students.
To analyze district performance data on state standardized tests, Lake Creek High has begun to create a coalition. Campus administrators are working to help students improve certain End-of-Course exam scores, At Montgomery High School. MISD will use small groups for targeted intervention and enrichment at Oak Hills Junior High. The design of these programs is to help students who are performing below their grade level and challenge those students who are mastering their coursework.
