The Courier of Montgomery County reports a state-required pay increase for some teachers but a salary freeze for all other district employees is included in Conroe ISD’s 2027 budget. On Tuesday, the plan was unanimously approved by Trustees.
The cost to the budget will be $700,000, according to Finance Director Karen Garza. In August, Trustees will adopt the 2026-27 budget.
For the upcoming school year, the employee compensation plan will increase salaries for teachers with three and five years of experience. The pay will rise for teachers with three years of experience to $64,250 from $63,850. With five years experience, teachers will see their pay increase from $64,700 to $67,200.
The district chose to front-load employee raises during the last budget season where they allocated $33 million to employee compensation. More than $4 billion for school employee raises came after Texas lawmakers allocated the funds in 2025. Garza said, “We did that with the clear understanding that we would not be able to provide raises to our employees this year.”
