The Courier of Montgomery County reports that due to a grant from the Conroe Noon Lions Club nonprofit, the Lone Star Family Health Center in Conroe will offer vision services later this year.
Helping fund the program’s development and efforts at getting underway is a grant of $100,000, plus an additional $10,000 a year for five years.
Founded in 1922 with its headquarters in Conroe, the Lone Star Family Health Center is a full-service federally qualified health center and nonprofit.
The center has five locations offering family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology services, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy and other services. In Magnolia, a sixth location is opening soon. In Willis, Spring, Grangerland and Huntsville, there are other clinics.
CEO Karen Harwell said, “Our new vision services reflect Lone Star Family Health Center’s continued commitment to focus on health care disparities and ensuring the community has access to high-quality care, regardless of ability to pay.”
