Community Impact reports that nonprofits and other organizations have been busy recently around Montgomery County.
Over 300 guests were in attendance on April 9th at the Women’s Empowering Luncheon. According to their April 29th news release, the luncheon helped raise more than $170,000 to give support to the interfaith Community Clinic. The clinic supports both uninsured and underinsured local people in Montgomery County.
The All Ears! Center,, according to their news release, on April 10th held its Toast & Taste: Boots & Bowties Ball to raise funds for hard-of-hearing or deaf children. Their clinic’s new Zero Delay program was able to raise “significant funds” with their ball.
The Woodlands Christian Academy’s auction according to their news release raised over $1.2 million with 460 attendees who came in support. Funds will go to support the school’s financial foundation.
Checking their news release, Habitat for Humanity, on April 25 hosted its 13th annual Building Hope Gala and raised $1.7 mIllion to aid in supporting local home ownership. Last year’s record was $1 million. Their evening of activities included raffles, live auctions, bid boards and a silent auction.
The Montgomery County Food Bank will distribute a truck containing 40,000 pounds of donated food supplies on May 13th, according to their news release on the matter. It’s all a result of a new partnership with Just Serve and America 250 as part of its America Gives initiative.
Ninety-seven partners across Walker County will receive the food distributed by Montgomery County Food Bank. This distribution will help 14,000 people for a week. Distribution of the food will be done by locals who volunteer with Just Service.
The Montgomery County Food Bank on June 13th will kickoff their annual Outrun Hunger event. Teams or solo runners of all ages are invited to the event. Three different courses will be available to choose from, which includes a 1K Color Dash and a timed 8K or 5K.
Donated proceeds will be used to help the fight against food insecurity in the area.
